VENTURA, Calif. - A Ventura County Superior Court judge has ruled against a lawsuit challenging the lease for a 571-space parking structure adjacent to the new Community Memorial Hospital being built in midtown Ventura.
Ventura Realty & Investment Co. sued the city last year over its partnership with Community Memorial on the structure. In that pact, the hospital agreed to cover construction costs for a parking facility designed to serve the hospital and surrounding businesses.
Earlier this year, Ventura Realty board member Sid White called the partnership a "backroom deal." He said Ventura Realty wanted an opportunity to be part of the lease discussions. The company owns property that houses businesses on Main Street, adjacent to the hospital.
